オルタナティブ・シューゲイザーデュオThe Otals（ザ・オタルズ）が2025年7月にリリースした渾身のフルアルバム『All Imperfect Summerland』より、カットアップシングルがキャリア初のレコード盤でのリリース。心象ではなく物語を基軸とした、新感覚のポップ・シューゲイズ。飽和するギターサウンドと、男女ボーカルのハーモニー、そしてジャンルのセオリーに囚われないリズミックで軽やかなメロディーで描く、総天然色のサマー・チューンだ。

カットアップシングルとして選ばれた「アンチソーダにいわせれば」は冗談めいた何気ないやりとりを鮮やかに切り取ったバンドの現在を象徴する楽曲。90’s～00’sオルタナティブの影響が色濃い、激しく歪んだギターサウンドと、何重にも重ねられたバックコーラスをサウンドの核としたポップ・ソング。「シュシュをあげるよ」は、USインディーの系譜を受け継いだ、アグレッシブで疾走感溢れるビートに乗せて展開されるオルタナティブな楽曲。暗がりに手を伸ばす、少しズレた励ましの言葉が胸を打つ、短編小説のようなストーリー性を持った歌詞も魅力の一つだ。バンドのアートワークに一貫して使用されている、カートゥーンめいた特徴的なアートワークもファンを惹きつけている。シューゲイザーらしからぬポップな音楽性を象徴するような独特な佇まいにも注目が集まっている。
