京都発、現在は東京で活動中の2人組バンド・Marie Louiseの最新EPが、2025年、WOOD OF HEARTよりリリースされました。

全体を通して聴いて感じたのは、スロウコア、エモ、ポストロック、インディーフォーク…
さまざまなジャンルが静かに混ざり合うような、深くて豊かなオルタナティブ・ロック。


柔らかいのに力強く、しなやかなのにどこか哀しみを帯びた歌声は、どこか祈りのような佇まい。
歌詞には、悲しみと、願いや祈りが宿っていて――
後押しではなく、ただ隣にいて寄り添ってくれるような音楽。
天気の悪い日の午後、部屋で静かに聴きたい。
心のざわつきを、少し落ち着かせてくれるような気がします。

「5月にあいし」は特に印象深い1曲。
中盤、反復を重ねて静かに盛り上がっていく構成は、たった3人（サポート含む）とは思えないスケール感。
まるで、四季が高速で移り変わっていくタイムラプス映像を眺めているような、なんともいえない切なさが胸に広がります。

Marie Louiseというバンドは、
そのポテンシャルをバンド自身がまだまだ持て余しているような気さえする。
でもだからこそ、これからの激しい進化を予感させるスケールを、確かに感じさせてくれる作品です。
